Don’t take it personal

We would save ourselves a whole lot of time and stress if we learned not to take things personally. Sometimes we have to give people the benefit of the doubt because they are still growing and learning just like you. However instead of gaining clarity or offering grace, we view what they said or did as an offense or attack which then put us in defense mode. Which also means, we think that what they said or did hold value as truth. Let that sink in! Which then can create resentment, anger and animosity. Do you see the snowball effect?

Next time that happen, try these tips.

  • stop and consider the source

  • don’t assume. ask the person for clarity

  • practice emotional resilience

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
